Discover Alberta's wild bounty with our Herb Club!

Learn to identify, prepare, and utilize local medicinal and edible plants for both culinary and wellness purposes. Each session focuses on practical plant identification, culinary uses, herbal actions, and medicine making. Please bring a clean jar (approximately 1/2 cup) to each class. This is a free program, but a suggested donation of $10 helps us cover ingredient costs.

We meet typically every second Thursday of the month at the Mayerthorpe Public Library from 7-9pm.

    Cooking with Stinging Nettle
    Nettle is one of the most nourishing plants of early spring, packed with minerals.. In this Herb Club we’ll explore how to work with nettle in the kitchen, learning how to safely harvest and prepare this abundant wild green. Together we’ll make a vibrant nettle pesto tossed with pasta and a rustic spring nettle galette.

    Rhubarb - Beyond the Pie
    Rhubarb is one of the first gifts of the spring garden, but it’s far more versatile than just pies & crisps. In this Herb Club we’ll explore several creative ways to work with rhubarb in the kitchen, including rhubarb kimchi, shrubs, and syrups. Participants will learn the basics of fermentation while tasting a variety of rhubarb preparations

    Plant Swap
    Join fellow gardening enthusiasts for our annual plant swap! Bring your extra seedlings, cuttings, divisions, and dig up garden plants to trade with others. Label your plants clearly with their name and any specific care instructions.
